Reflecting on past years

How it all began..

Our founder Reeva Fields, has a wealth of expertise in leadership theories, culture, wellbeing and sociological perspectives on Autism. Reeva's journey through life, marked by the awareness of her differences and struggles  led to a pursuit of self-education in adulthood, amidst early employment and with minimal support. Diagnosed with ASD at the age of forty while pursuing higher education, she has since attained a Post Graduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs, a PG Diploma in Occupation and Wellbeing, and held the position of Business Owner from 2009 to 2018. Additionally, she achieved a 2:1 degree in Management, effectively overcoming the challenges of her upbringing. Reeva's unique perspective encompasses an understanding of both neurotypical and neurodiverse viewpoints, harmonising the two with a grounded approach.

With a robust background in teaching ASD students, including areas such as employability, business start-ups, and personal, social, health, and economic education, she has implemented key skills in diverse educational settings. These including schools, colleges, prisons and medium secure forensic units. Furthermore, Reeva has ran her own successful care business, in addtion to working with autistic charities. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Reeva assisted on an acute elderly ward, supporting vulnerable adults at an extremley challenging time.  Prior to this, she spent time working alongside private organisations specialising in residential supported living, focusing on behavioral concerns.

These experiences have afforded her firsthand insight into the challenges faced by individuals with ASD, including instances of bullying, discrimination, and various forms of abuse within different organisational and community contexts. Driven by a commitment to educate organisations and their staff, Reeva emphasises the importance of positive coping strategies, structured routines, and supportive systems to foster resilience in challenging circumstances. Through her extensive experiences across diverse settings she has identified a notable gap that now needs bridging between autistic and neurotypical.
